How Often Can You Return Or Exchange Books On Audible?

"This post may contain affiliate links. Check my disclosure policy for more information"

Yep I’m totally going through the phase of audiobooks.. again! I have my husband listening to the 5 Second Rule on his way to and from work and I’m on Lean at Home at the minute but did you know once you’ve read it you can actually return a book and exchange it for another over on Audible?

Exchanging your audio book

I do love a good book book and although I feel I would probably read one a lot more at the minute than ever before, there is no getting away from the fact that an Audible Membership allows you to exchange your audiobook if you are not massively impressed with the book or you’ve finished it and want to listen to another. Physical books aren’t cheap either are they... I mean you can’t just return them and exchange for another once you’ve read it can you?!

AUDIBLE’S RETURN POLICY

So what is Audibles return policy?

If you’re unhappy with your book, you can return or exchange it easily as long as it’s within 365 days of the original purchase.

They say their exchange policy is risk-free because it allows active members to take a chance on a new narrator or story without losing a credit.

Our ability to continue to offer this benefit is dependent on our members using it for this purpose only. In instances where we find the benefit is being overused, we may reach out to assess why. So basically if you abuse it you lose it!

CAn You RETURN BOOKS YOU’VE LISTENED TO IN FULL though?

Yes. If you are within the 365 days of purchasing it there should be absolutely no issue. Realistically you could read a whole book and decide you don’t like it right?

In my opinion it’s no different if you listen to a few pages or the whole book you are still eligible to return it under Audibles returns policy who say if you’re unhappy with your book, you can return or exchange it easily as long as it’s within 365 days of the original purchase.

HOWEVER, as I’ve already mentioned above don’t abuse it. If once you’ve finished a book and it’s coming near to the end of the month when your subscription renews; hold off exchanging and just use your new credit to get your next read.

It’s a brilliant system and chances are if you are like me you don’t have time to listen to one book, let alone more than one a month anyway so you will be happy with a credit a month but if you are continously returning and exchanging audio books then they may well at some point prevent you from doing so again.

How do I return a book on Audible?

Only certain books can be returned using the app on via mobile so if when you click on your account you don’t see ‘return’ then just head over to desktop and it will let you do it there.

Will I Get a Refund WHen I return my audio book?

That depends on what you paid for it with in the first place because credits are not the only way you can pay for an audio book.

For example Amazon (who own Audible say):

  • Titles purchased with credits will be refunded with credits.
  • Titles purchased with a coupon will be refunded with a new coupon.

Members who purchased their title with a credit(s) will receive their credit(s) back immediately to use for their next Audible purchase. Members who purchased a title with another form of payment will receive their refund in approximately 7 to 10 business days, depending on the issuing financial institution.

If multiple books are returned and were purchased with a credit card, note that each title returned is treated as a separate transaction and will be credited to the purchaser’s account individually in the same 7-10 business day time frame.

I am no longer a member of Audible, can I still return my book?

I have only just re-signed up for Audible having cancelled it probably over a year ago. When you cancel you are still able to listen to the books your purchased through credit or cash/card indefinitely however you cannot return or exchange if you are no longer a member.

I hope this helps and has given you enough information on returning books via Audible. If you love Audible as much as I do please let me know.. I’m always looking out for new books to read! My next one on the list is ‘Profit First’!

Feel free to PIN to read again later!
