A few Sundays ago I decided to sign up the kids for a local Junior Park Run.

I always knew there was one nearby but for some reason, I had it in my mind that it was on a Saturday and so never bothered really looking any further into it because we have other activities on a Saturday morning & couldn’t make it anyway.

But having seen a friend on Facebook post a picture of his little girl taking part in their local one I decided to take another look… imagine my husband’s excitement when we realised the Junior Park run IS on a Sunday after all and the it is the regular Park Run on a Saturday!

Kids Park Run

Family fitness hour

Our Junior Park Run is a 2k run around a local park that starts at 9.00am. They say it starts at 9.00am, and you do really need to get there for then if it is your first time, but they tend to not start the run itself until 9:10am so don’t feel rushed to get there for 9am.

Park Run registration

It is completely FREE and first-time runners need to pre-register and print off a barcode. It is that barcode that those located at the finish line will scan as and when you cross it. This will prompt an email later on in the same with your time, position and your personal best.

Parents can run but only children between 4 and 14 can run and have their times recorded.

I have now made it my aim to make it a family thing every Sunday so much so I will be cancelling my gym membership because I just dont have time to go (so much for all the self care promises I made myself when I left my job!)

Why not check out if there is a local Junior Park run near you and get yourself down.

If you got value out of this or feel it would be something some one you know would love to read too then feel free to share (or PIN to read again later!)

About

I’m Kirsty.  A mother of two (three if you include the hubby!) and I created this blog back in 2016 as a way to make myself accountable for the savings I had to make myself to my day to life after reducing my hours at work.

Childcare costs would’ve meant I was pretty much working for nothing and we refused to pay it!

It is now my mission to help other Mum’s find ways of doing the same & show that you can live within your means without feeling deprived.  The blog will provide you with ways you can make some extra money online, share frugal living tips you can take away and use yourself and encourage you to manage your money correctly!

Luxury doesn’t have to mean buying a Chanel bag or having a Ferrari on your drive but if you budget well, watch your spends, make the right decisions then you just never know… by cutting down or saving on just one element from your life may open other doors to things that you’ve only ever dreamt about!
