MuscleFood Unthinkable Plan Food Review

Just like so many working families… we are super busy week in week out. My husband sometimes works late so it’s difficult to plan a family meal and we have activities every day of the week barring one! Not forgetting after school club twice a week too meaning the turn around between coming home from school and going back out again is very short!

So when Muscle Foods got in touch to ask me if we’d like to try their ‘Unthinkable’ plan I jumped at the chance to be honest!

Although I work from home and could probably be seen as being able to cook and prepare every single night just because I’m here; don’t get me wrong when I can I will but I’ve still got to work too and to be fair my husband is a ‘non freezer meal type’ (don’t you hate those kind of people!) 😉 so it’s really quite hard to plan.

I thought the Unthinkable plan would be ideal for him because he works long days and does that terrible TERRIBLE thing which I call him out for pretty much every day where he’s that busy he can easily go all day without eating!

Who Are Muscle Foods?

So Muscle Foods aim to provide you with the best lean meats and supplements on the market to enable you to get all the nutrients and protein you need to excel at a cost-effective price. Their Unthinkable Plan is a plan that supports you in your quest to eat healthier and lose weight by providing you with a meal plan that is pre portioned, bought and delivered straight to your door! All you need to do is cook it!

How Much Does It Cost?

At the time of writing their prices range from £60 to £79 per week. Yes per week! On the face of it, it isn’t cheap but then 1) it’s not cheap food and 2) you get every single thing you NEED to eat for a whole week. Not just your dinner but your breakfast, lunch and dinner including snacks too for 7 full days! But there are always discount codes and money off knocking around the shop.. click the picture above to see the latest deals.

Meals on the Unthinkable Plan

You have a large list of meals and snack to choose from on the Unthinkable plan which I gave to my husband for him to choose from during our 5 day trial.

There was sooooo much to choose from! If I’m honest I was only expecting a choice of 3 max but choosing which foods we wanted to try was probably the hardest bit!

The 5 day plan consisted of us having to choose 5 things for breakfast, 5 things for lunch and 5 things for dinner PLUS 5 mid morning snacks, 5 afternoon snacks and 5 evening snacks…so there was a lot of food on it’s way!

The ‘Muscle Meals’ On The Unthinkable Plan

Every main meal was wrapped up separately and included a recipe card that you could put in your folder which houses a fair few other meal ideas too!

One of our favourite meals had to be the Mozzarella & Mustard Chicken. It was soooo good!

Everything was wrapped up separately and meant all we needed to do was put in the ingredients without having to measure. Everything was ready to just put together meaning all we needed to was chop up anything fresh!

Lunches consisted of what can only be described as microwaveable meals. I was a little underwhelmed with the micro meals if I’m honest but if you are busy, on the go all the time or would give anything for some variety everyday instead of the same old boring pasta or carb filled sandwiches every day; these made it very easy to do just that!

There was a super variety of both breakfast and snacks too. The roast chicken skewers I stuck in the freezer so aren’t pictured… because I usually freeze everything I buy to ensure it lasts longer I completely forgot that this was enough food for the whole 5 days so I should’ve just stuck it in the fridge to be fair! We just seemed to get so much it felt like a full shop!

Muscle Foods Free Delivery

Delivery is included in the plan and is really efficient. I was notified when it was on it’s way plus a tracking reference and a text message too. As the delivery got closer the courier even got in touch with a 2 hour window meaning I didn’t need to stay in all day just waiting for a delivery!

Is the Unthinkable Plan worth it?

There is no getting away from it on paper it is a lot of money but if you break it down (like I always do with anything!) it’s actually ok!

You’ll know that I talk a lot about non negotiables and the fact I really don’t mind paying for something that is going to make my life easier, less stressful and needs me to use my brain as less as possible!

To me this would be one of those things that for pure convenience and to make life easier it is worth every penny.

You don’t have to think about what to do for dinner you just have to get it out of the fridge once it’s been delivered to your door and you don’t have to think about shopping list, meal plans nothing! They’ve done it all for you!

The only thing I disliked (and to be fair that’s probably the wrong word, I didn’t dislike it it was just something we experienced!) was the fact a lot of the snacks and one or two breakfast had traces of nuts in.

Although there will be a fair few people who work in a similar environment, there will be many MANY out there that don’t but unfortunately my hubby works somewhere that you cannot take foods in that contain nuts so he had to ensure he ate what he could actually on his way to work in the car.

Majority of the lunches are also microwavable which again is totally fine but you NEED a microwave to successfully complete this plan. Not everyone does have a microwave at work so just also bare that in mind.

I’m really pleased we got the opportunity to try out the Unthinkable Plan because it is genuinely a brilliant idea for particularly working parents who are stuck in that vicious circle of not having the time to meal plan or exercise. The plan it’s self should also be used alongside exercise so you can easily replace the time you save by not having to go shopping or meal planning and start exercising.. even if it’s for just 20 minutes a day!

We ensure that our kids eat well, get out and do all their activities but we often neglect ourselves. Knowing that our healthy meals are sorted every day of the week without having to think or just stick any old thing together, will appeal to so many people!

About

I’m Kirsty.  A mother of two (three if you include the hubby!) and I created this blog back in 2016 as a way to make myself accountable for the savings I had to make myself to my day to life after reducing my hours at work.

Childcare costs would’ve meant I was pretty much working for nothing and we refused to pay it!

It is now my mission to help other Mum’s find ways of doing the same & show that you can live within your means without feeling deprived.  The blog will provide you with ways you can make some extra money online, share frugal living tips you can take away and use yourself and encourage you to manage your money correctly!

Luxury doesn’t have to mean buying a Chanel bag or having a Ferrari on your drive but if you budget well, watch your spends, make the right decisions then you just never know… by cutting down or saving on just one element from your life may open other doors to things that you’ve only ever dreamt about!
