We’ve never holidayed anywhere in the summer before & never ever been abroad. Besides the inflated cost, the hot weather would be just unbearable and sometimes the weather here is that nice that I feel you just don’t NEED to go anywhere!
British summer holiday in Poole
Last summer saw my husband head to Dorset on business. It was the same week Hull FC were in the Challenge Cup final across in Wembley, of which we were planning on going to anyway, so we chose to all head down with him for a little mini summer holiday!
We eventually arrived after 5 hours on the road to the Premier Inn located just on the outskirts of Poole, much to the delight of hubby it was right next door to Mercedes Poole!
The hotel was super easy to find, it is just off the main road alongside Holes Bay and was one of the first hotels we came to as we headed into Poole itself.
Poole bed & breakfast
The kids were super happy with the fact we got breakfast every morning in the restaurant located just steps away from check in.
Up to 2 Kids (16 or under) eat free for both breakfast and dinner, should you choose to book the meal plan. At the time of writing breakfast for all 4 of us was just £19.00 per night and includes everything you see in the picture below.
For an extra £
Although we didn’t get the meal deal we did eat in the restaurant once and had breakfast every single day of the stay.
The variety of breakfast was amazing and for just £19 for all 4 of us… a bargain too! I think we will always get breakfast when we stay in a Premier Inn from now on to be fair!
Family rooms at Premier Inn
We fully know what to expect as far as Premier Inn rooms are concerned with a family because we stay in them regularly… they are all pretty much the same and this one was no different.
The kids both had a single bed each which I LOVE because so many places offer two queen beds but these two cannot share a bed! One wakes up, they feel the need to wake the other up and one ALWAYS end up sleeping sidewards!
Things to do in Poole
As I’ve already mentioned the hotel itself was on the outskirts of Poole town centre with so many things within walking distance or a short drive away. We walked using the lit pathway which took you straight to the high street, the Dolphin shopping centre and a train station amongst tons of other things.
It’s in an ideal location to be on the outskirts so not to pay for parking or worry about getting a spot but close enough to walk (or drive) to anything you want to see.
I talked more about the other things we got up to in Poole all of which whilst using this hotel as a base.
The only thing we could fault about the hotel was the fact it has no air con. We had a fan but obviously being the British summer it was still super hot!
I was more concerned about was the kids messing with it, getting their hair or fingers stuck to be fair.
We also asked to move to a room on the second floor after our first night because we were below a family that loved nothing more than jumping from one bed to the other and nearly coming through the floor. They were very accommodating and happily moved us because those above were going to be there for the same amount of time we were too.
Although we were advised to, we didn’t claim under their ‘good night’s sleep guarantee’ because it was just unnecessary to do so; and the remainder of the stay was absolutely fine.
We will 100% return back to Premier Inn at Holes Bay on our next visit to Poole. It’s located pretty much opposite an Asda, Fish and Chip shop and a subway too so you aren’t restricted to the on-site pub either which helped given we had the kids in tow.
