I am going hard on sustainability posts and showing how cheap you can live a sustainable lifestyle. I’m here today to share with you some of the best non-toxic cleaning products using items that may well be available in your cupboards right now! It will also help to reduce your carbon footprint too!
Non Chemical Cleaning Products
White or Cider Vinegar
Vinegar is one of the best natural cleaning products that so many of us don’t even think about! It’s perfect to clean glass be that mirrors, windows or shower doors. Brings shine to floors and tiles and deodorises fabrics too! It will also descale and even brighten clothes (although not a stain remover, as a rule, I too spray on stains that disappear pretty sharpish in the wash!)
Natural Salt
Salt can be used as a scouring agent and stain remover. Spilt red wine? Try salt! Blot as much as you can up and pile it full of salt which will help pull the remaining wine from the fibres. Soak in water for at least 30 minutes & wash immediately.
Although technically not a cleaning tip,
Lemon
Lemon is the best friend, let’s say, to pretty much everything I’ve mentioned thus far in this post.
- Mix it with vinegar to descale or get rid of those watermarks on or around your taps.
- Rub the lemon into a salt-covered wooden chopping board to clean
- Pop some lemon juice into a water-filled microwavable cup or bowl for easy removal of the food inside of your microwave.
- Mix lemon juice, baking soda and water to yellow sweat stains on clothes.
Baking Soda
Yet another deodoriser baking soda is a perfect natural cleaner to wipe down the fridge due to it It neutralising acid-based odours and adsorbing odours from the air.
Bicarb of Soda
Bicarbonate of Soda is another really good deodoriser (I have two dogs.. can you tell?!). I use it on dog beds, settee’s, carpets and chairs. It does exactly what Shake N Vac does (if not better and without any harsh chemicals!)
I’d love to hear about the natural cleaning agents your use or
