We love trying new things out on our Disney trips. Some say ‘don’t you get sick of going to the same place’ but nope far from it because there is always something different to do each and every trip. Today I’m going to give you 5 experiences you probably didn’t know you could do at Walt Disney World and NONE need a theme park ticket either! I would even say that one or two of these activities may well also end up being up there with some of the best things to do at Disney World!
Uncommon activities at Walt Disney World
Wilderness Lodge Horseback Riding
Horseriding is probably the one I’m going to go with first because it’s something I would LOVE to do… if I wasn’t such a chicken!
Fort Wilderness Resort already
At the time of writing the 45 minute horseback trail costs $55 + tax but riders must be over 48 inches tall and weigh under 250 pounds.
Disney World Segway experience
Wilderness Lodge is also a resort of which you can take a Segway tour around too!
It’s a longer experience that horse riding with the tour taking around 2 hours so be sure to put some suncream on!
Don’t worry if you’ve never ridden a Segway before either they will provide you with sometime to get used to it before you go out in the ‘outback’.
Typhoon Lagoon Surf Lessons
You wouldn’t expect to be able to learn to surf in Central Florida full stop let alone at Disney itself but you can!!
Surf lessons are only offered on selected days and they are pretty early in the morning (prior to park opening.) Times vary by season and the cost isn’t cheap at $190pp including tax however that includes park admission (you don’t need to buy an extra ticket which is good!). Each session lasts approx 3 hours too so you certainly get your money worth… you even get breakfast!
There is a maximum of 25 Guests per session will be allowed and that includes spectators too so I wouldn’t say it was really suitable for a family day out although I’m sure they would accommodate if there was only a few of you just don’t expect the whole of your wedding party to be able to watch you for example 😉
Enjoy an outdoor movie at a Disney ResorT
Most of the Disney resorts these
Best bit.. you don’t even have to be a resort guest to be able to experience the majority!
Some are located around the pool area where only resort guest are able to access but ones like those located around the camp fire at the Fort Wilderness Resort or on the beach of the Grand Floridian… these are accessible to anyone!
I’ll be adding to this as and when I come across anymore unique Disney experience and activities that don’t require a theme park ticket but if there are any that you’ve experienced then drop me a comment down below!
If you got value out of this or feel it would be something some one you know would love to read too then feel free to share (or PIN to read again later!)
