The school holidays are creeping up slowly but surely… have you made any plans yet? I need too otherwise we will end up doing very little! Planning is a must for me! Here’s just a few of the things that we are going to get up to as well as one or two that you may want to add to your list too. I will be adding to it as and when I come across new things to be sure to pop back and drop me a comment down below if theres any ‘must do’s that I have missed.
Things to do this summer in East Yorkshire
July
Beverley Races
There is a family day at Beverley races on Tuesday 30th July and Paw Patrol will be in attendance! Kids get free entry too!
Hobbycraft Store events
This is another something we did regularly last summer. The kids made a dream catcher that the still both have in their bedroom, some slime (that I couldn’t wait to get rid of!) and a mask when we went last year.
This year we have already booked them to make a windsock, decopatch animals and sun catchers!
Head over to Eventbrite now to book.. they are totally free but do get booked up quick! Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see everything else they have available too.
Veteran Weekend in East Park
12 years the Veteran weekend has been running in Hull and it’s back on the 27th and 28th July 2019 in East Park.
There is even going to be a performance from the Silver Stars who will parachute in to the park at 1.30pm on both days as well as a static Spitfire aircraft on display too!
August
Freedom Festival
The Freedom Festival is back!
Another free family festival that runs over 5 days. The last week of August see’s one of the UK’s leading international arts festivals, bring audiences in excess of 130,000 people to the city of Hull each year to experience and participate in a bold, radical and ground-breaking programme of work.
Hobbycraft Store events
Hobbycraft store events head into August too with plenty more on offer so be sure to check out Eventbrite and book quick!
Beverley Races
Sunday 25th August see’s Beverley ‘Circus Family Raceday’ and entrance for kids are free!
Yum Food Festival
Another fab yearly event located around Queens Gardens.
We’ve been the past few years and will be another for the calendar this year for sure! Just don’t eat anything before you go!
Hull FC Summer Rugby Camp
Although 2019 dates haven’t been announced yet, for as long as I can remember Hull FC have offered junior rugby camps to children aged between 4 & 10.
2018 saw them being charged at £30 per child and were for two full days mid week (9.30am – 3pm).
East Riding Leisure centre activities
A couple of summers ago I enrolled my eldest on to a week long swimming lesson crash course. He went every day Monday through Friday and ended up with his 5 meter badge!
This year I am considering putting my youngest in for the course in the hope she gains some confidence in the water!
Other activities they offer throughout the summer includes…
Street Food Festivals
Can you tell we love our food in this house!? 😉
This is another regular food festival that we visit every now and then. It’s on every first Thursday of the month through until September.
From 4pm until 9pm on August 8th food stalls will once again decent on Trinity Square, the evening before the weekend’s Yum Festival.
Junior Experience Days at The Deep
If your child is aged between 8-11 with a passion for marine animals? Then join us for a fun-filled experience day where your little one can help carry out some of The Deep’s daily activities!
For £32.50 your child will spend 6 hours going ‘behind the scenes’ at The Deep allowing them to get hands on within the attraction!
National Play Day
We loved the National Play Day last year held in Queens Gardens.
It’s a free event with tons of events, activities and if the suns makes an appearance.. it makes it even better!
Hull Show
Another 2 day FREE activity in East Park. There will be activities, live music, fun fair (chargeable!) and even a stunt show!
