Whether you are feeling a little short on money, wondering how you’re going to get through to the next pay day or you’re drowning in debt; financial stress is a thing so today I’m sharing with you some steps to help reduce not only your financial hardship but also relieve your stress.  There’s nothing more stressful than feeling like you can’t make ends meet so here are some tips to help alleviate money stress.

Reducing Your Money Stress

Get real about your problem

It’s sad but extremely common that many people use avoidance to manage their money.  They don’t want to admit that they have financial issues or anxiety caused by money only the problem with this is that you continue to have the same problems over and over.  Every time you have to pay a bill or buy something you end up feeling the same stress over and over.  While you may have moments of freedom from care, deep down you’ll always be worried about money.

Cut expenses

Look for as many ways to trim expenses and save money as you can.  For some people that means letting go of their early morning coffee shop trip or if you you want to really go for it why not look at doing a no spend challenge? For others it may mean to reduce your utility bills.

There are many luxuries we tend to think of as necessities.  You need to get rid of any expenditures that are luxuries when you really can’t afford them.

Track your spending

Part of getting real about your situation is to track how much money you spend.  When you really see how much you have going out on paper right in front of your eyes instead of just logging on your banking and noticing a payment leaving more often than not; you’re bound to find some places where you can make different choices that are more financially sound.

Find The free activities

If you look around, you’re bound to find things you can do in your community that are free or very inexpensive.  This is a great way to save money on entertaining especially during the school holidays while still being able to relax and enjoy downtime.

Don’t Forget About Those Around You

Life can be even more stressful when parents feel like they’re the only ones with the responsibility to deal with family finances.  While you don’t need to burden your children with financial fears, you do need to teach them how to manage money.  Let them be part of household financial decisions or your no spend challenge. You could even give them the chance to help you with your budget planner.

Look for ways to increase income

Sometimes just making a little more money can relieve your budget a lot.  There are so many ways to earn a little bit of extra cash from turning your hobby into a business through to mystery shopping in your dinner hour!

You could even look at working seasonal, part-time, or temporary jobs to bring in a little extra money.  Internet marketing and virtual assistance also provides a way to work from home with flexible hours.

Improve job skills Or Get Another JOb

When you need more income in your household, it may be time to improve your job skills.  Workshops and certifications can help you to land a better, higher-paying job or even go in completely different direction and create a whole new career!

Live within your means

There are so many people live in homes that are too expensive with car payments they really can’t afford because perhaps they once used to be able to afford it or they just want to ‘keep up with the Jones’!

If you are struggling it may well be time for you to downsize to a less expensive lifestyle in order to save yourself financially!

Focus on your health

Whether we like it or not money make the world go around so when finances are stressful, other areas of your life tend to go alongside.  In times of financial stress make sure you are continuing to look after your self. Continue to eat healthy foods, get regular exercise and relax. This will help to reduce stress and keep you healthy.

Improve relaxation

As I just touched on relaxation is another way in which if your mind is busy with the stress of financial problems, it can help you get centered. Meditation for just a few minutes each day can really help you to feel better as can Yoga, exercise and stretching your body to release tension.

I hope this list gives you at least a handful of things you can take away today and implement to ease some of your financial stress.

There IS light at the end of the tunnel so take care of yourself and it will be your money stress will be gone before you know it! Feel free to PIN to read again later.

About

I’m Kirsty.  A mother of two (three if you include the hubby!) and I created this blog back in 2016 as a way to make myself accountable for the savings I had to make myself to my day to life after reducing my hours at work.

Childcare costs would’ve meant I was pretty much working for nothing and we refused to pay it!

It is now my mission to help other Mum’s find ways of doing the same & show that you can live within your means without feeling deprived.  The blog will provide you with ways you can make some extra money online, share frugal living tips you can take away and use yourself and encourage you to manage your money correctly!

Luxury doesn’t have to mean buying a Chanel bag or having a Ferrari on your drive but if you budget well, watch your spends, make the right decisions then you just never know… by cutting down or saving on just one element from your life may open other doors to things that you’ve only ever dreamt about!
