Disney Dining Plan differences

Anyway on with the differences between all 4 available during the 2020 release of the Free Disney Dine.

What is the Disney Dining Plan?

If you don’t know what a Disney Dining Plan is a convenient, flexible and brilliant way to save your self some money by prepaying for your meals and snacks within Walt Disney World.

You don’t have to worry about spending money (unless you want to buy more of course!) because you’ve paid for everything, barring your gratuities, before you’ve even arrived.

Dining plans are included with your Disney hotel package for an additional cost. At the beginning of the year Disney advertise as ‘Free Disney Dine’ as an incentive to book your hotel & ticket package for the following year.

What are the Disney Dining Plans?

There are three main plans:

Disney Quick Service Dining Plan

This plan offers those families on the go who don’t maybe want to make a reservation 180 days in advance and are happy with a counter service meal where you walk up, get your own meal and find a seat yourself.

Now don’t think that the Quick Service Dining Plan (QSDP) is solely fast food. Don’t get me wrong it’s not necessarily a big wholesome three-course meal you’d get with a table service meal but the variety is immense and so much better than it ever used to be and you are bound to find something you all like from on of the 50+ locations.

All members of your party aged 3 and over will receive the following for every single night of their stay:

  • 2 self service meals
  • 1 alcoholic/non alcoholic drink per meal
  • 2 snacks (selected snacks)
  • refillable resort mug

Apart from the refillable mug of which you will receive upon check in at your Disney Resort, all will be available as ‘Dining credits’ that have been loaded onto your Magic Band.

Quick Service Dining Plan cost

At the time of writing we are on the run up to the release of free Disney dine however if you were to buy this plan and add it to your reservation it would cost you £39.99 per adult, £17.99 per child, per night.

Disney Dining Plan

The slightly higher priced Disney Dining Plan (DDP) is the one that goes by the same name 🙂 … the Disney Dining plan!

This takes a little from the QSDP above but also gives you the opportunity to sit down at one table service restaurant every single day too!

There are over 100+ dining locations on Disney property so again you are sure to find something for everyone. We were on this exact plan on our last trip and we didn’t need ANY spending money whatsoever because ALL our meals were paid for.

Having waiter service meals means you get access to are sit down restaurant style meals and also give you the opportunity to eat at some of the amazing character meal locations too in and out of the theme parks.

Again, members of your party aged 3 and over will receive the following for every single night of their stay:

  • 1 self service meal
  • 1 waiter service meal
  • 1 alcoholic/non alcoholic drink per meal
  • 2 snacks (selected snacks)
  • refillable resort mug

Just like the QSDP all your DDP credits will be loaded onto your Magic Band at the start of your trip.

Disney Dining Plan cost

At the time of writing we are on the run up to the release of free Disney dining however if you were to buy this plan and add it to your reservation it would cost you £56.99 per adult, £20.99 per child, per night.

Deluxe Dining Plan

This is the mother of ALL dining plans! And if you feel like you are able to still go on all the rides and attractions after eating as much as this plan offers then I take my hat off to you!

This plan covers breakfast, lunch AND dinner for all members of your party aged 3 and over who receive the following for every single night of their stay:

  • 3 waiter OR self service meals
  • 1 alcoholic/non alcoholic drink per meal
  • 2 snacks (selected snacks)
  • refillable resort mug

This plan does offer the maximum flexibility however it’s A LOT of food!

If you are looking at dining at some of the more signature restaurants or special dining experiences though that will cost you more than 1 credit then it’s certainly worthwhile but as far as the quantity is concerned I know we would not eat this much!

Disney Deluxe Dining Plan cost

At the time of writing we are on the run up to the release of free Disney dining however if you were to buy this plan and add it to your reservation it would cost you £85.99 per adult, £29.99 per child, per night.

But you said there were 4 dining plans?

Disney Free Breakfast dining plan

The 4th Disney Dining Plan which is NOT available to book at any time barring when the free Disney Dining promotion is being sold is the Disney Free Breakfast offer.

This option is only for those staying in a value resort though and gives all guests 3 and over:

  • 1 self service meal credit

Although it is marketed as a ‘free breakfast’ there is not restrictions as to when you have to use your 1 self service meal credit by per day.

Like all the other Dining Plan credits they are pooled together and you can use however many you want per day making it a nice addition to those staying in a value resort that wouldn’t ordinarily be entitled to a Disney Dining Plan.

There is no doubt that if you were to ensure you got the most from your Disney Dining Plan by following our tip 10 tips and tricks here then the Disney Dining Plans are an absolute steal!

About

I’m Kirsty.  A mother of two (three if you include the hubby!) and I created this blog back in 2016 as a way to make myself accountable for the savings I had to make myself to my day to life after reducing my hours at work.

Childcare costs would’ve meant I was pretty much working for nothing and we refused to pay it!

It is now my mission to help other Mum’s find ways of doing the same & show that you can live within your means without feeling deprived.  The blog will provide you with ways you can make some extra money online, share frugal living tips you can take away and use yourself and encourage you to manage your money correctly!

Luxury doesn’t have to mean buying a Chanel bag or having a Ferrari on your drive but if you budget well, watch your spends, make the right decisions then you just never know… by cutting down or saving on just one element from your life may open other doors to things that you’ve only ever dreamt about!
