Frugal Living Tips

A frugal lifestyle means different things to different people.  Frugal living to me means that we prioritise the things that are important to us as a family (the things we don’t mind spending our money on!) and reduce our spends on the things we don’t!

What Is Frugal Living?

Frugal living is NOT not spending anything at all; it is about being intentional with your money. Frugal people will look for ways they can afford things and dig out those offers and deals to save them some money in the long run or that means they can spend on other things or save.

Here are a few ways in which we live frugally and some tips that could save you a TON of money too!

Save Money On Dining Out

Dining out doesn’t have to be expensive if you know where to look!

Want to know how to a get a discount on your takeaway or a Big Mac and fries for £1.99?

Saving money on my utility bills or food shopping every week allows us to go on a date night once a month so you will also find some restaurant reviews and other ways to save when eating out in here too!

Self Care

Self care is super important particularly when living a frugal lifestyle.

For me, the money I’ve saved when switching my car or home insurance may well be used towards a beauty treatment or shoes that I’ve dreamt of getting for ages!

It doesn’t feel like I’m over-spending because I was going to spend it anyway.. and I see it as a reward for finding something cheaper and saving money too!

But self care doesn’t have to cost anything either which is why I include things like where to find free family exercise, how to stay gym fit without a gym membership and finding things in your home to be greatful for.

Cheap, Discounted Or Free Days Out

Days out are probably one of the most expensive things we as parents have to endure! You want to go out as a family but no one WANTS to spend £80+ having fun! Don’t get me wrong we do, we have… I mean we all have and sometimes it is nice to have a treat.. but just know there are plenty of ‘cheap’ things to do too!

I have tons on the blog including things to do on a no-spend weekend with kids, cheap things to do in Yorkshire, Dorset and things to do in Lincolnshire too!

Frugal Food

I love food… but you will know that if you follow me on Instagram 🙂 I get such a rush when I see yellow or red stickers on food too that I even have my supermarket reduction times down to a tee… but shusssh!

I also love experimenting with food too… I’m not the biggest fan of trying new things but I do like meal planning and cooking for other people so you’ll find not only a beginners guide to meal planning but also simple affordable recipes using up the things that tend to just go to waste such as healthy roast potatoes and shredded hash browns.

Frugal Living Tips at Home

In addition to frugal food I also have content on frugal living tips in the home too including natural cleaning products, home maintenance and tips to making your home cosy on a budget!

Parenting is tough.. I know I have two kids of my own!

About

I’m Kirsty.  A mother of two (three if you include the hubby!) and I created this blog back in 2016 as a way to make myself accountable for the savings I had to make myself to my day to life after reducing my hours at work.

Childcare costs would’ve meant I was pretty much working for nothing and we refused to pay it!

It is now my mission to help other Mum’s find ways of doing the same & show that you can live within your means without feeling deprived.  The blog will provide you with ways you can make some extra money online, share frugal living tips you can take away and use yourself and encourage you to manage your money correctly!

Luxury doesn’t have to mean buying a Chanel bag or having a Ferrari on your drive but if you budget well, watch your spends, make the right decisions then you just never know… by cutting down or saving on just one element from your life may open other doors to things that you’ve only ever dreamt about!
